Commercial Floor and Expansion Joints

The Brief

A commercial unit in the South West needed its concrete floor and expansion joints sealing as part of a wider fit-out. Floor joints in a working unit take a real beating from foot traffic, trolleys and the natural movement of the slab, so the brief was a hard-wearing, tidy finish that would protect the floor, keep dirt and water out of the joints, and stand up to daily use.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Assessed the joints: Walked the floor with the site team to check the condition and width of each joint and agree the right product for the environment.
• Cleaned and prepared: Cleared out dirt, dust and any old material so the new sealant could bond properly to clean, sound edges.
• Sealed the floor and expansion joints: Applied hard-wearing, professional grade sealant to the concrete floor and expansion joints, tooled to a neat, consistent finish.
• Worked around the site: Fitted the work in around the rest of the fit-out and the unit's schedule, including flexible hours where needed to keep the project moving.
• Left it clean: Cleared up fully and left a tidy floor ready for the next stage of the fit-out.

The Result

A neatly sealed floor with hard-wearing joints built to take traffic and movement. The finished work protects the slab, keeps the joints clean and is ready for the demands of a busy commercial unit, all delivered to the site's programme without holding up the rest of the fit-out.
